Up until I got curious and actually Googled the history behind this cocktail’s name, I imagined it to be a fancy, festive story behind the people that would watch the greyhound races and this was their drink of choice. That would make sense right? And sounds like something I want to join in on.
But, actually the Greyhound found its way into our citrus-loving hearts when it was served in a restaurant chain inside the Greyhound bus terminals in 1945. This makes much more sense, and is a little more fitting for me personally because today, we go to New York for a long weekend trip. We are going to visit some friends and were so excited about the fun, spring weather up north but, of course, it was snowing yesterday. But that’s okay, we still have lots of fun things in store!
Meanwhile, I will be traveling and dreaming of sipping on these beautiful drinks. This grapefruit cocktail recipe is so easy to make and is tart, fresh and strong with its vibrant flavors of grapefruit and lime juice, freshly grated ginger and of course the good stuff – vodka.
