Derby Day is here! Whether you have a fun hat party to attend or plan to watch the race from the comfort of your own couch (perhaps in your PJs – I won’t judge), you definitely need a Strawberry Mint Julep to bring you in these spirit of this event! This cocktail recipe is so easy to make, and strawberries are so delicious right now they just pump up the flavor of a traditional mint julep just the right amount.
You will need simple syrup for this drink, but it is so easy to make. Just bring equal parts sugar and water to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves. Cool it off in the fridge for an hour or so, and you are ready! Keep it on hand to make other delicious cocktails with as well (Old Fashions, anyone?).
Once you have your simple syrup made, combine some in the bottom of a glass along with some sliced strawberries and fresh mint leaves, muddle it together, then pout int he bourbon and crushed ice. I seriously had no idea it was so easy to make these cocktails – This will likely my new summer drink!
